On 15 May 2014, United Water signed a contract for the Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster water supply project with the Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster Zone Management Committee.

 

The Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster Zone Water Supply Project is a key construction project for the cluster zone.  United Water will act as the lead investor for the construction and operation of the project under a BOO model. The concession period is for 30 years with a total planned capacity of 150,000 metric tons of water per day and a total investment of RMB 400 million. The first phase will have a capacity of 50,000 tons per day and a total investment of RMB 135 million. The project will have a significant impact on the development of industry and residential life in the cluster zone. 

 

Sanmenxia is located in a favorable position at the meeting point of Henan, Shaanxi and Shanxi provinces.  On 31 March, 2014 the State Council officially approved the “Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan Yellow River Golden Triangle Regional Cooperation Plan” of which Sanmenxia lies at the heart.  The Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster Zone was the first such zone approved by the Henan Provincial government in 2009 for high tech industrial development and as a demonstration base for new industries.The zone has a planned area of 33.78 square kilometers and there are currently 170 industrial enterprises located in the zone and a residential population of 6.26 million people of which 1.5 million are industrial workers.  It is a key location for the processing of non-ferrous metals, energy efficiency lighting and special manufacturing industries in Henan Province.

 

United Water currently has waste water and water supply operations in 8 Chinese cities covering 7 provinces with a total capacity of 1.3 million tons per day.  The signing of the Sanmenxia Industrial Cluster Zone water supply project accelerates United Water’ s development in the central region of China and adds to its operating size.
