On 15 September 2014, United Water signed a contract for acquisition of the project company of the Shanxi Province, Xinjiang Township Coal Chemical Industrial Park water supply project.

 

The project which takes and treats water from the Yellow River to supply to the Coal Chemical Environmental Demonstration Industrial Park of Xinjiang Township is a key project for the industrial park.  The project is under a BOT model with a 30 year concession right and a total capacity to supply 60,000 tons of water day at a total investment of RMB 150 million.  The first phase is for 30,000 tons a day at an investment of RMB 80 million.  It is the only concession for the supply of water to the Coal Chemical Environmental Demonstration Industrial Park of Xinjiang Township.

 

The Xinjiang Township Coal Chemical Environmental Demonstration Industrial Park was in the first batch of Environmental Demonstration Industrial Parks approved by Yuncheng City and is one of Yuncheng City’s 5 + 15 key industrial parks and in 2013 it was confirmed as a new industry demonstration base for the whole of Shanxi Province. The industrial park is located in the North East of Yuncheng city around 10 kilometers from the urban center of Xinjiang township and has a total planned area of 13 square kilometers with 40 enterprises currently operating within it that produce annually 3,600,000 tons of metallurgical coke; 260,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 400,000 tons of urea.The industrial park generates over 60% of the tax revenues of Xinjiang township.  The park will advance the comprehensive use of coal using domestic and international technologies and advancing research in environmental production to become a demonstration base for environmental industrial production in Shanxi province.

 

The Xinjiang Township Coal Chemical Industrial Park Water Supply Project is United Water’s second project in the ‘Yellow River Golden Triangle’ region following on from United Water’s existing Sanmenxia project and represents another important milestone in United Water’s development in this region.
